FLSE's Esthetics Program is led by an Illinois-Licensed esthetician trained at Dudley Beauty College Systems in Chicago, the Black Skin Institute, and the Sephora Beauty Scholar Program.
The goal of FLSE’s Self-Care Program is to provide wellness-focused, self-care services that assist clients with achieving improved skin care, stress reduction, and somatic grounding.
FLSE's complexion correcting esthetics services are both relaxing and good for your health. Services include facials and body treatments.
FLSE provides donation-based services.
Services are rendered at no cost to the participant, however, donations help support the cost of the services.
No one will be denied services due to an inability or unwillingness to donate.
FLSE operates under the strict guidelines of the Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Act of 1985.
Esthetics at FLSE is practiced for beautifying purposes, not for the treatment of medical disorders.
The Family Life Science Education “Reducing Stress and Improving Self-Care” Program is a microstudy that provides free counseling and facials. The purpose of the study is two-fold; 1) for the participant to discuss and examine stressors experienced as a consumer of esthetic services, specifically wellness care; 2) to collect information about improving business practices and pricing in the beauty industry that will increase access to appearance and wellness care by better understanding consumer expectations.
Voluntary participation requirements include:
Completing a mandatory information session, screening, and signing the informed consent/agreement to services document.
Attending four free virtual stress management counseling sessions (via HIPAA-compliant Google Meet).
Attending four free facials. (Services are rendered in Chicago at an aesthetic and wellness medspa).
Facials are performed by an Illinois-licensed esthetician.
Research is conducted by EdD doctoral student Sol Ennis (a NCFR-certified Family Life Educator, and NAMA-certified anger management specialist).
